NeuralCIM

A Cuban biotechnology neuroprotective therapy — a modified erythropoietin designed to support neuron survival and reduce neuroinflammation in neurological conditions including Alzheimer's disease.

Overview

NeuralCIM at a glance

NeuralCIM is a recombinant human erythropoietin with reduced sialic acid content, developed by the Center for Molecular Immunology (CIM) in Havana, Cuba. Standard erythropoietin (EPO) is a hormone that stimulates red blood cell production. NeuralCIM is a modified form of EPO designed to retain neuroprotective properties while reducing its blood-building (hematopoietic) activity. In Cuba's neurological rehabilitation programs, it is used as a neuroprotective agent alongside intensive cognitive and physical rehabilitation — not as a standalone medication.

How It Works

NeuralCIM's modified erythropoietin molecule has reduced sialic acid residues. This modification is designed to lower hematopoietic (blood-building) activity while retaining neuroprotective properties. The therapy aims to support neuron survival under stress — such as in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's — and to modulate neuroinflammation, a process implicated in the progression of neurological conditions. In Cuba, NeuralCIM is always used as part of a comprehensive program combining neuroprotective therapy with intensive cognitive and physical rehabilitation.

Treatment Protocol

NeuralCIM is administered under medical supervision as part of individualized 4–8 week treatment cycles at CIREN (the International Center for Neurological Restoration) in Havana. The therapy is combined with daily cognitive rehabilitation, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language therapy — typically 4–6 hours per day, 5 days per week. Each program is designed by a multidisciplinary medical team based on the patient's specific condition and needs.

Clinical Evidence

NeuralCIM is a product of Cuba's biotechnology industry, developed by the Center for Molecular Immunology (CIM). It is used in Cuba's neurological rehabilitation programs and has been administered to international patients as part of comprehensive treatment cycles. The therapy is not approved by the US FDA and is not available through US healthcare providers.

Availability

NeuralCIM is only available in Cuba. It is not FDA-approved and cannot be obtained through US pharmacies, clinics, or hospitals. Access requires travel to Cuba and enrollment in a comprehensive rehabilitation program at CIREN. SMC Salud coordinates the full process — from medical record review to travel logistics and treatment.
